Goya Gumbani collaborates with singer Fatima for the groovy “Firefly.” The London-by-way-of-Brooklyn rapper blends his experiences as a wordsmith and a figure on the current jazz scene abroad to create “Firefly.” The single is the second preview from his upcoming album, Warlord of the Weejuns; the title is inspired by Miles Davis for his staunch individuality. Gumbani started releasing music in 2018 when he released his Morta & Mora Doves EP dedicated to his late sister. A series of projects and his performance for A COLORS SHOW upped his visibility and led to him working with the late Virgil Abloh. “Chase The Sunrise” was the last single he released in 2024, and it is also included on Warlord of the Weejuns. He will celebrate the album’s release with two shows in New York at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporic Art on March 22nd and at the Jazz Café in London on April 17th. Warlord of the Weejuns comes out March 21st.
