Flying Lotus Is Back With Garmonbozia

Flying Lotus is back with “Garmonbozia,” and it’s unusual because, for the first time, he uses his voice to sing. The beat drags, and the synthesizers sound like church organs and music for one of the many galaxies as FlyLo sings about an inescapable red room. It was two years ago when he released “The Room,” and since then he’s been occupied with running his Brainfeeder imprint. The creativity doesn’t stop with his music, he just completed co-writing and directing a portion of the horror anthology V/H/S/99. He also directed and composed the sci-fi horror film Ash, starring Aaron Paul and Eiza González; composed and executive-produced the Netflix anime series Yasuke, and wrote the theme for Apple’s Magic Johnson documentary They Call Me Magic. FlyLo reasserts his artistic voice with “Garmonbozia” and creates wonder about the arrival of his next album.
