In Our DNA: Hip House is a new documentary about the history of hip house. The early ’90s hybrid made famous by artists like Chicago legends Mr. Lee and Fast Eddie, amongst others, is celebrated. Xfinity’s Black Experience channel and 300 Studios collaborated to present the three-part docuseries that looks at the genre’s rise in the ’90s. DJ Red Alert and house producer Terry Hunter are some of the artists interviewed who talk about the genre and how it influenced New York house music. The film premiered December 6th, 2023, at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, where DJ Spen, Fast Eddie, and DJ Emmaculate walked the black carpet. In Our DNA: Hip House is streaming exclusively via Xfinity.
