Björk And Rosalía Share Oral For A Cause

Björk and Rosalía collaborated on the single “Oral” to protest fish farming in Iceland.  Björk wrote “Oral” two decades ago but did not think it was a fit for any of her albums. She rediscovered the song in March of 2023 when she learned about the damage the Norwegian-owned salmon farms were causing to the native ecosystems. The practice of keeping the fish in nets until they grow a desirable size causes them to grow quickly, becoming ill and escaping to breed with wild salmon, which endangers the future of Iceland’s salmon population.  All proceeds from “Oral” will be donated to support a legal case brought against the fisheries by the people of Seyðisfjörður, who live on the eastern side of Iceland. People can donate through Björk’s site and learn more about fish farming from the Icelandic Wildlife Fund. The duo have also released a video for “Oral.”
