Wajatta kicks off autumn with their Waiting For The Getdown EP. The twosome takes listeners into a world dominated by classic house and Detroit techno with hip-hop and funk folded into the mix. The brief tracklisting begins with the hyper R&B-injected “Again And Again” that builds a mini frenzy out of shuttering synths, a blurry keyboard and rapid-fire rhythms. Reggie Watts’ savory falsetto pops out and and becomes the focal point that elevates the arrangement. The title track hums on the same vibrational level as Lil Louis’ seductive “French Kiss” but Watts’ cool falsetto is more cerebral. WFTG leaves an impression of fun and chill decompression with five songs that are now on the playlists of second summer parties.
