Singer-songwriter Poe’s debut album Hello will be available on vinyl for the first time on Record Store Day. The album was originally released in 1995 and by 1996 she was named as one of the defining voices of a new movement of independent-minded women artists. She secured her first record deal using demos she made with J.Dilla and RJ Rice. The critically-acclaimed Hello included “Fingertips” which was co-written and produced by Dilla. Poe’s style was unusual as the album had multi-genre influences including jazz, electronic and rock. The vinyl debut of Hello is a long time coming as Poe admits she always wanted to see it offered in this way “to honor all the great samples on it that came from vinyl.” Record Store Day is Saturday, April 22nd and you can find your participating stores to purchase one of the limited vinyl copies of Poe’s influential Hello.
