Charlie Burg’s Infinitely Tall tour stopped in his hometown of Detroit at El Club on Sunday. Burg opened his one and half-hour set with “Chicago (Take It Or Leave It)” and blended covers of songs by The Isley Brothers, Taylor Swift and Tears For Fears with his own catalog. The Detroit native’s debut album Infinitely Tall was just released on the Fader label. The charming mix of R&B and indie rock came alive with the band that kept the crowd engaged and reached one of its most thrilling moments with “Dancing Through The Mental Breakdown.”  Burg’s natural stage movements included guitar playing and a tempered falsetto which sounded better than the recordings. A much-demanded encore ended the evening and a trip to the merchandise table revealed vinyl copies of Infinitely Tall, t-shirts, notepads, tote bags and the revelation that there were actually 10 people who asked for the album in CD form.
