The 40th edition celebrates the apex of Jackson’s recording career and Thriller’s never-ending influence on the world of pop culture. The album went to number one in every country and was the first to spend 80 weeks on the Top 10. Thriller was also the first to be certified 20x platinum in 1984 and since then it has sold more than 100 million copies. The video for “Billie Jean” was the first video from a Black artist to receive rotation on MTV. Jackson took home an unprecedented eight Grammys for the album.
