Maxwell introduces the third installment of his love trilogy with new single “Off.” The R&B crooner’s romantic overtures are demure and poetic. As is custom he sings like the happiest groom on his honeymoon with sparse production leaving him almost acapella. The excitement is low-key but burns a mild flame that has the potential to grow into heated passion on the rest of the album. The slow walk to blacksummers’NIGHT was referred to last when blackSUMMERs’night came out in 2016. It will be the third and last of the series that started in 2009 with BLACKsummers’night. The completion comes out in the Spring of 2022. He goes on tour with Joe and Anthony Hamilton in March of next year to support the album.
