BeMyFiasco’s Where I Left You was released today. It’s been five years since the singer/songwriter released her Layers EP. Her first proper full-length album is executive-produced by Phonte who usually raps with Little Brother and sings with The Foreign Exchange. Tall Black Guy and Roho are among the producers while Carlitta Durand and Darien Brockington have guest appearances on “Anywhere” and “Thinkin Bout It.” The love saga was worth the wait because BeMyFiasco introduces the songs with newfound vocal wisdom gained from her work with Robert Glasper, RC & the Gritz and travels to Spain. Phonte is a longtime collaborator and BeMyFiasco also appeared on Little Brother’s May The Lord Watch. She summed up the motivation behind Where I Left You in a statement:Â
“’Where I Left You’ is a rollercoaster ride through the highs and lows of love, loss and self-discovery. It’s a healthy balance of confidence and vulnerability. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, this album showed me I was just scratching the surface.â€
BeMyFiasco shows off pride for her Dallas, Texas hometown in the video for “Bad Dream” that preceded the album earlier this week.Â
