Rogét Chahayed just added new credits to his discography with two songs in the Shang-Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings movie. The producer who has worked with Doja Cat, Drake, Halsey and Travis Scott collaborated with anderson.paak, 21 Savage and Rich Brian for “Fire In The Sky” and “Lazy Susan.” The former is an easy love song elevated by Chahayed’s ethereal lean symphony. Bruno Mars, who is one-half of Silk Sonic, also co-wrote “Fire In The Sky.” The latter is driven by a cliff-hanging piano and eventually stretches out into frantic triplet beats and bilingual raps adding up to dance-capable car chase music. Chahayed was elated to participate and had this to say,Â
“Working on the music for Shang-Chi was one of the most rewarding projects I’ve done as a producer. From getting my best friends together over Zoom to make the beat for ‘Lazy Susan,’ to starting ‘Fire in the Sky’ in an overnight session with my genius brother Anderson, to talking about the closing scene with the director Destin Cretton, to seeing the way these songs came to life with the picture, I just couldn’t be more grateful to play a part in this incredible movie.”
Chahayed was a protégé of Dr. Dre’s 11 years ago when he played keyboard’s at Dre’s Record One studio in Los Angeles. Since then he has help craft some of the most relevant pop songs within the landscape of pop.Â
Shang-Chi is in the theaters and the soundtrack is available on all streaming platforms.Â
