St. Vincent delivers an awesome video for “The Melting Of The Sun” that pays homage to the artistry of women artists who paved the way for her.  She references Marilyn Monroe’s death by a drug overdose, singer Tori Amos’ experience with sexual assault, Nina Simone’s legal problems because of her political music and Joni Mitchell’s “Furry Sings The Blues” about the decline of Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. The singer appeared as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live two weeks ago. The visual stands out for its quirky animation and the way St. Vincent melds into colorful images. Her sixth studio album, Daddy’s Home comes out May 14th.
