Poet and songwriter Mustafa gives A Colors Concert and performs his song “Air Forces.” The Toronto native is accompanied by an acoustic guitar in the dark olive room. The song is informed by his experiences witnessing violence in his Regent Park neighborhood. A sample of a Sudanese tribal chant and Mustafa’s words are a prayer to his friends to stay away from trouble. He calls his sound inner-city folk music and cites Joni Mitchell, Richie Havens and Bob Dylan as influences. “Air Forces” is Mustafa’s second single following “Stay Alive” released earlier this year.Â
