BET will broadcast a tribute to late music executive Andre Harrell this Sunday. The Memorial Day special is called Mr. Champagne & Bubbles, which was Harrell’s nickname and the name of a radio show he had in the ’90s on New York’s 98.7 Kiss FM. Mariah Carey, Russell Simmons, Chris Rock, Jamie Foxx and Babyface are among those who will honor Harrell. The founder of Uptown Records which was a major force in ’90s music and birthed hip-hop soul, died earlier this month at age 59. He is credited with setting Sean “Diddy” Combs on his path to music moguldom. Mary J. Blige, Heavy D. & The Boyz, Al B. Sure, Guy and Jodeci were all Uptown artists. The tribute will air Sunday, May 24th at 7 PM ET.Â
