The Black Eyed Peas were having a commercial breakthrough when “Shut Up” was released as the second single from their third album Elephunk (2003). It would be the first song and album that Fergie would appear on before becoming the official fourth member. The song about a failed romance was promoted with an opera-themed video that had guest appearances from Kimberly Wyatt and Carmit Bachar of the Pussycat Dolls and Travis Barker from Blink 182.”Shut Up” became an international number one hit for The Black Eyed Peas despite it not charting in the United States. The addition of Fergie’s voice and image helped their transition into the mainstream and it was also their first time being called The Black Eyed Peas. “Shut Up” is one of the songs to define the new era in their career and continues to be a fan favorite. The Black Eyed Peas seventh album Masters Of The Sun Vol. 1 was released in 2018.
