The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre in Detroit has announced its lineup for the 2020 Jazzy Nights season. The venue was formerly known as Chene Park was renamed after the late music legend in May 2019 just nine months after her passing. Sheila E, Avery Sunshine, Peabo Bryson, PJ Morton and more are some of the artists scheduled for Jazzy Nights. The Wednesday night concert series will begin in June and tickets are on sale now.Â
In other Aretha Franklin news, National Geographic just released the trailer for their Genius: Aretha biopic starring Cynthia Erivo as Franklin. The eight-part series will premiere May 25th. Jennifer Hudson is currently filming the MGM feature Aretha, where she stars as the late icon. Mary J. Blige, Marlon Wayans and Forest Whitaker are among the cast. The studio just released a photo of Hudson as Franklin and Wayans as her ex-husband Ted White. Respect comes out on October 9th, 2020.Â
