Bob Marley would have been 75 years old today and his family, Ume and Island Records will acknowledge his birthday all year long. The Marley75 activities will begin in spring with Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley headlining The BeachLife Festival to perform songs from their father’s catalog during the three-day event. There will be special live events, exclusive digital content, recordings, exhibitions and rare treasures throughout the year. It is also the 40th anniversary of Marley’s “Redemption Song” and there is a new animated video created by artists Octave Marsal and Theo De Gueltzi. The video uses 2,747 drawings to highlight the importance of the lyrics today and Bob Marley’s hope for humankind. Marsal and De Gueltzi explain:

“From the history of Slavery and Jamaica, Rastafarian culture, legacy of prophets (Haile Selassie the 1st, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X), as well as Bob’s personal life, we take the audience on a journey through allegories and representations.”
