J.PERIOD DJ Jazzy Jeff, Young Guru, DJ Khalil, Tall Black Guy and more produced the album. “See The Light” features Andra Day and Dead Prez sharing their words about people finding their way in the midst of political struggle. The album is in conjunction with the project’s nationwide campaign that has held events to raise awareness about the current issues facing the country. Black Thought of The Roots who participated in the recording shared his feelings about RISE UP:
“RISE UP is very necessary, it speaks to the current climate in this country in a way that is clear and articulate. It means a lot for me to be able to show solidarity with my fellow artists and long-time collaborators. Projects like this are essential creative push back in such absurdly turbulent times.â€
The video for “See The Light” is all about citizens getting fed-up with the status quo and organizing to change their circumstances.Â
