D’Angelo and hip-hop fashion will be showcased in documentaries shown at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. Devil’s Pie-D’Angelo is directed and written by Carine Bijlsma and its focus is D’Angelo’s return to music after leaving public life in 2000. Forest Whitaker is one of the film’s producers. The Remix: Hip-Hop X Fashion looks at hip-hop’s influence on fashion. Lisa Cortéz and Farrah X are the directors of the feature that has appearances from Dapper Dan, Misa Hylton, April Walker and Kerby Jean-Raymond. There will also be screenings of films about Other Music, the defunct New York City music store, INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence, the 1969 Woodstock music festival and late boxing great and humanitarian Muhammad Ali. The Tribeca Film Festival will take place April 24-May 5th.Â
