Lyte As A Rock was the first full-length album from a solo woman rapper. She was also the first woman rapper to receive a Grammy nomination, perform at the White House achieve Gold record status and perform at Carnegie Hall. Here she is performing “Lyte As A Rock” from the album. MC Lyte, who is also an actress, is currently filming the jazz era feature Sylvie that stars Tessa Thompson. She released her most recent single “SpotLyte” in 2018.Â
