The presence of Ginuwine’s coy tone and Timbaland’s spasmodic rhythms made “Pony” jump out at the listener. The video of Ginuwine dancing suggestively across a bar in a room of bikers and two old women was unforgettable. He became the sexiest new male R&B singer of 1996 alongside Maxwell and “Pony” was the debut single from his first album, Ginuwine…The Bachelor. Timbaland began his reign as one of the definitive producers of the ’90s with “Pony” and Aaliyah’s One In A Million album. “Pony” earned its reputation as a song for strippers when it was released in ’96 and again when it was featured in the 2012 Magic Mike movie about male dancers. In 2013, he worked with Tyrese and Tank on the TGT collaboration album Three Kings. Ginuwine appeared on the UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother 21 in January of 2018.
