Bounce TV & Brown Sugar Will Air & Stream Aretha Franklin’s Funeral This Friday August 31st

The Bounce television network and Brown Sugar streaming service are collaborating on the Aretha Franklin funeral service taking place Friday, August 31st.

The funeral will take place at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Ron Isley, Shirley Caesar, Yolanda Adams, The Clark Sisters and Marvin Sapp are among the 19 performers. Smokey Robinson, Rev. Jesse Jackson and former President Bill Clinton will speak at the service. 

Bounce and Brown Sugar will partner with Bounce’s local Detroit affiliate WXYZ, for the event and will air WXYZ’s hometown coverage and commentary nationwide. 

Celebrating The Queen Of Soul will begin at 9:00 A.M. ET. WXYZ news anchors and longtime friends of Franklin, Glenda Lewis and Carolyn Clifford will host the hour-long event. They will look at highlights of Franklin’s career and give live reports outside Greater Grace Temple as celebrities, politicians and friends arrive to pay their respects. The memorial service will begin at 10:00 A.M. ET.
