Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder & Fantasia Among Performers For Aretha Franklin’s Funeral

The list of performers for Aretha Franklin’s August 31st funeral at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Shirley Caesar, Yolanda Adams, The Clark Sisters, Ronald Isley, Faith Hill, Marvin Sapp, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Audrey DuBois Harris, Alice McAllister Tillman, Edward Franklin, The Aretha Franklin Orchestra and the Aretha Franklin Celebration Choir will all perform at her homegoing service. The funeral is private for family and friends but there may be some seats open to the public. Bishop Charles H. Ellis III and his wife Crisette are currently putting together a motorcade of pink Cadillacs to sit outside the funeral because she sang about one  in her pop hit “Freeway Of Love.” 

The public viewing for Franklin takes place August 28th and 29th at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit from 9 AM to 9 PM both days. There will be an additional viewing open to the public August 30th at New Bethel Baptist Church from 12-4PM. 

On August 30th from 6-9 PM  there will be an Aretha Franklin tribute concert at Chene Park. The tickets are free and Ticketmaster is waiving the service fees. There is a two-ticket limit per person and they go on sale Monday at 10 AM. Angie Stone, Gladys Knight, The Four Tops, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Johnny Gill, LJ Reynolds, Jenifer Lewis, Tasha-Page Lockhart, Cherri Black, Doug Carn, Kurt Carr, Angela Davis, Gwen Foxx, Gracie Franklin, Edward Franklin, Victorie Franklin, Kimmie Horne, George Faison, Steffanie Christi’an, Dr. Bobby Jones, Santita Jackson, Beth Griffith-Manley, Alise King, Kierra Sheard, KIKO, L’Renee, Minister Louis Farrakhan and Raheem DeVaughn will appear at the concert.
