The production duo used vocalist Deborah Cooper on the original version and it increased their profile in the music industry as it was a big hit in clubs and on the dance music charts. Franklin hired them to produce the album version of the song for her Greatest Hits (1980-1994) album and remixes as a single. Her voice made “A Deeper Love” a no. 1 hit and it also functioned as the leading song from the new album. Greatest Hits (1980-1994) compiled some of Franklin’s most popular songs on Arista Records up until 1994. Critics and fans were aware of certain omissions like her duets with Whitney Houston and Elton John but the compilation achieved platinum status and was nominated for a Best Female R&B Performance Grammy of which Franklin already had nine. The 37th Grammy Awards also bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award on her in 1994. “A Deeper Love” was also used in the Whoopi Goldberg film Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit.Â
