Brooklyn quartet Phony Ppl are back after a three-year break with a video for their single “Before You Get A Boyfriend.” Lead singer Elbee tries everything he knows to court the cashier at this local bodega but does not find out until the video’s end why she is not interested in him. The surprise ending is funny and the band laughs together about the mystery solved in the scenario. Phony Ppl have been busy since their 2015 debut Yesterday’s Tomorrow performing with The Roots and Erykah Badu. They also opened for Kali Uchis on her 2017 tour. “Before You Get A Boyfriend” is from their next album.Â
