Kendrick Lamar was in New York City today to accept the Pulitzer Prize in Music for his album DAMN at Columbia University. It was announced one month ago that Lamar became the first rapper to receive the honor. The award was given in the past to jazz and classical performers. The event streamed live on Facebook and Lamar said upon accepting the ward, “It’s an honor. I’ve been writing my whole life, so to get this type of recognition it’s beautiful.”
