Kendrick Lamar opened The Grammys’ with U2 and a medley of “XXX,” “DNA” and “King’s Dead” that had brief breaks with words from Dave Chappelle. He took home Grammys for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance with Rihanna, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Album. Bruno Mars performed “Finesse” with Cardi B and he also had a big night with six wins including Album Of The Year. Childish Gambino had five nominations and took home a statue for Best Traditional R&B Performance. He performed “Terrified” but told the media later that he would be retiring the Gambino persona. Fans were dismayed that Sza did not take home any awards after having her breakout year and five nominations. She gave a performance of “Broken Clocks.” Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” seemed destined for recognition but Kendrick Lamar took both categories. See the full list of winners here.
