[youtube id=”VvYIpa1Ulvw”] Positive K’s “I Got A Man” was a catchy rap song about a man meeting a woman on a New York City street in 1992. He had already rapped about the subject with former First Priority labelmate MC Lyte on their 1988 collaboration “I Ain’t Havin’ It.” Positive K’s voice was altered by studio technology and he became the woman’s voice constantly reminding him that “I Got A Man.” The Skills Dat Pay Da Bills was released on Island Records and had Big Daddy Kane and Jazzy Jay among its producers. The album did not climb the charts but became an underground classic of the ’90s. In 2017, Positive K and Greg Nice released their Gr8te Mindz album.
