[youtube id=”dwQSq1HSj-k”] Nubian M.O.B. was a short-lived group from New York that had its only album released on the legendary Cold Chillin’ imprint. M.O.B. stood for Musically Organized Brothers and Nubian was supposed to be a calling card for all Black men and women to live together in harmony. The group consisted of vocalist Icewater, rapper Set Up and DJ Flamboyant. Daddy-O of Stetsasonic produced the project that had Kedar Massenburg as an executive producer along with Tyrone Williams (Cold Chillin’ co-founder) and Leonard Richardson. Icewater’s rapping and singing on “Faraway To Go” was reminiscent of the hippy-influenced style of PM Dawn’s Prince Be. Nubian M.O.B. had another single with “Hey Ya’ll (The M.O.B.’s All Here)” before they were no more. Icewater has created solo music and worked in radio since his moment as a member of Nubian M.O.B.
