[youtube id=”p2N7WFKwiaQ”] Tyrone Davis started his career as a blues and soul singer on Carl Davis’ Dakar Records in Chicago. He had a series of successful records during his seven years on the label which included his biggest chart climbers “Can I Change My Mind” and “Turn Back The Hands Of Time” both produced by Willie Henderson. Davis moved to Columbia Records in the ’70s and recorded In The Mood With Tyrone Davis in 1979. The album was his most successful Columbia release and he developed a more contemporary style musically. Davis’ sensual vocals matched James Mack’s horn arrangments, the nimble guitar, and a bassline acting as the twilight. The song’s immediate entry into Quiet Storm heaven is equal to its rap appeal having been sampled by MC Eight, The Beatnuts, and Fat Joe among others.
