Ravi Coltrane Quartet: NPR Tiny Desk Concert

[youtube id=”NEUD2CkKn8o”] Ravi Coltrane’s Quartet has surprised NPR fans with a Tiny Desk Concert of three songs with no lack of improvisation. The son of John and Alice Coltrane and cousin to Flying Lotus has recorded as a bandleader since 1998’s Moving Pictures. Spirit Fiction from 2012 is his most recent album as a leader and the late Geri Allen is one of the credited musicians. Coltrane received one of three Grammy nominations for 2016’s In Movement recorded with Jack DeJohnette who worked with his father.
