Nas & Jack White Recreate The Memphis Jug Band’s On The Road Again

[youtube id=”qIj5rFxeHFo”] Nas and Jack White have recreated The Memphis Jug Band’s “On The Road Again” for the PBS documentary American Epic. They were joined by a bluegrass band and transformed the 1928 blues song into a hip-hop production. American Epic explores the beginnings of recorded music when record companies traveled the country with electrical recording equipment looking for new artists.

Robert Redford narrates the three-part documentary that he executive produced with White and T Bone Burnett. Raphael Saadiq, The Alabama Shakes, Willie Nelson Rhiannon Giddens, Beck and Los Lobos are among the performers who appear in the film. The soundtracks American Epic: The Soundtrack and American Epic: The Collection will be released on White’s Third Man Records.

American Epic will premiere May 16th and the American Epic Sessions concert film will air June 6th on PBS.
