[youtube id=”X-jxEX1XQpY”] HBO has released the trailer for The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks with Oprah Winfrey starring as Lacks’ daughter Deborah. Lacks was the unwitting donor of cells used to create the HeLa cell line for medical research. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 1951 and doctors took cells from a tumor on her cervix before her passing that year. The HBO movie is based on Rebecca Skloot’s book of the same name follows Deborah Lack’s journey with Skloot to know her mother and how she became so important to the medical community. The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks will air on HBO April 22nd.
