[youtube id=”eZ-WNjr_GeE”] Vanessa Kendrick recorded Clarence Reid’s “90% Of Me Is You” in 1973 for the Glades label.  Late music mogul Henry Stone owned T.K. Productions of which Glades was a subsidiary company. Kendrick’s original was famously sampled by Main Source on “Just Hangin’ Out.” A year later Gwen McCrae covered the song and owned it with a superior vocal performance and her version has been sampled in rap multiple times. Kendrick did not have a successful career but “90% Of Me Is You” was another achievement for Reid as a songwriter and gave him another influence on hip-hop outside of his Blowfly persona.
