[youtube id=”GcurEoUvK-E”]  Nocera had a rare mainstream hit for freestyle music with her 1986 single “Summertime, Summertime.” Kurtis Mantronik remixed the single for her Over The The Rainbow debut album. The song charted on Billboards’ Hot 100, Hot Dance Music and Hot Black Singles charts while the album went mostly unnoticed.  Nocera was born in Italy moved to New York City at age 18 and signed to the independent Sleeping Bag Records known for their hip-hop roster that included EPMD. She recorded a second album that was never released and Over The Rainbow went out of print after Sleeping Bag Records closed. “Summertime, Summertime” became Nocera’s claim to ’80’s fame and she still tours with Old School lineups when she isn’t working as a DJ or the front woman to the rock band The BB Batts.
