[youtube id=”WMNyCNdgayE”] Common performs “Black America Again” on the street with an African percussionist in a decaying neighborhood. Faces of Black children fill the camera and then the lens watches a group of church women participating in a ring shout outlined with chalk on the sidewalk. The clip is filmed in Black and white as if to make a point about the racial polarities Common is rapping about with Stevie Wonder singing the chorus. Ava DuVernay produced the short film that was directed by her Selma cinematographer Bradford Young and dancer Rashida Bumbray appears in the video.  Black America Again, the album is out now.
