Ledisi’s I Can’t Breathe Challenges Police Misconduct

Ledisi’s “I Can’t Breathe” is an emotional overture to the criminal justice system with an obvious reference to the death of Eric Garner who was choked by the police. Angel Lea Higgs wrote “I Can’t Breathe” and her observation about a “world afraid to love” is explained by Ledisi’s singing that bears an emotional semblance to her  performance of “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” for the Selma soundtrack. Ledisi sings as if one of her family members are among the fallen to wake-up anyone who has misunderstood the mission of Black Lives Matter. Ledisi  is on tour now and you can buy tickets here.
