Philadelphia funk/rock band Wetbrain is independently releasing their “Filter Face” single today. The four-man group came together in 2014 lead by vocalist Matthew del Rio’s hip-hop roots that eventually yielded to a sound dominated by rock and funk. They count Kendrick Lamar, Pink Floyd and N.E.R.D. among their influences. “Filter Face” places them at the crossroads of Funkadelic and hip-hop. The pace of their rock riffs with del Rio’s rapping and singing is in line with the Red Hot Chili Peppers but Philadelphia’s gray concrete takes over instead of California sunshine. Stream “Filter Face” above and buy it at CD Baby.
