Meshell Ndegeocello talks to Billboard about scoring Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar and looking back at her musical past. DuVernay describes Ndegeocello as “the soundtrack to her life” and having her score Queen Sugar was made possible because Jason Moran introduced the two of them. Ndegeocello’s last time scoring for television was George Wolfe’s  2005 Lackawanna Blues for HBO.  The bass player/songwriter also  talks about her well-known aversion to performing her old music on tour.
