Morgan’s version became an R&B hit and introduced her as a new singer with enough talent to own a Prince song. Surprisingly, Prince loved her cover and introduced himself to her by thanking her for doing such a good job. Morgan’s take on “Do Me Baby” did not have a musical climax like the original but she maintained the song’s sexiness  by phrasing her words the approach of a slow tease. Morgan became another woman in the ’80’s including Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Sinead O’ Connor, Vanity and Mavis Staples to receive a  major career breakthrough because of a Prince song. Morgan was very successful during the ’80’s and has recorded five albums with her last output being 2005’s I Remember. She and Prince maintained a friendship until his death in 2016.
