Mazarati .100 M.P.H.1985 by capitainfunkk
Mazarati was a funk band founded by Brown Mark who was Prince’s bass player in The Revolution. Prince signed Mazarati to his Paisley Park label and wrote “100 MPH” for their eponymously titled debut album. The song was one in a long line of Prince productions performed by one of many musical associates he wrote hits for including The Family and Sheila E. Mazarati was famously given the option to record “Kiss” until Prince took the song back but kept their background vocals. The Time’s “Jerk Out” was another song Mazarati was given to record but their version was not used on the Paisley Park record. The band signed with Motown for their Mazarati 2 album which was co-produced by Brown Mark and Klymaxx founder Bernadette Cooper. Mazarati Revisited starting recording in 2011 and was scheduled to release new music in 2013. Their 1986 album is a sought-after release for collectors of Minneapolis funk.
