“Lady Lay Your Body” is from Carl Thomas’s 2000 debut album, Emotional. Thomas’s emergence was welcomed by romantic R&B fans because his sensitivity delivered a rare subtleness among a lot of crude rappers who began to infiltrate mainstream soul music. The Chicago native, who was discovered by Puffy while singing in an NYC nightclub, co-wrote “Lady Lay Your Body” and most of the songs on Emotional. The combination of Thomas’s gift and his team catapulted Emotional into platinum status and made it one of the must-have R&B albums of 2000. Thomas has added three albums to his discography since Emotional with 2011’s Conquer being his most recent release. The singer is scheduled to tour the United States in 2016.
