J.J.Fad started as a quintet in 1985 and recorded and released “Supersonic” as a B-Side to the single, “Anotha Hoe.” When the group re-formed as a trio, “Supersonic” was re-recorded and re-released in 1988 as an A-Side single and became a hit record. J.J. Fad were one of the first acts signed to Eazy E’s Ruthless Records and they were the pop-rap polar opposite of labelmates N.W.A. Dr. Dre and N.W.A. produced J.J. Fad’s debut album, Supersonic and their goal was to use them to legitimize the label before the introduction of N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton.  The success of Supersonic made J.J.Fad the first all woman rap group to earn a Grammy nomination. Their sophomore album, Not Just A Fad, was overlooked and the single, “We In The House” was popular with DJs but did not chart. The group disbanded soon after to focus on family life but in 2009 they reunited and started touring again.
