Mad Kap hailed from Los Angeles and consisted of group members Coke, Motif and trumpet player Dr. Soose. “Proof Is In The Pudding” earned them one-hit wonder status from their Look Ma Duke, No Hands lone album. They are the only rap group to have a trumpet player and Dr. Soose’s live playing enhanced their boom-bap at a time when jazz breakbeats were used frequently in hip-hop. King Tee’s DJ Broadway exclusively produced the album that was one of the first to come out on Loud Records. “Proof Is In The Pudding” was the follow-up to their first single, “Da Whole Kit & Kaboodle.” Coke later formed the group The Colored Section with DJ Homicide.
