Charlie Prince, Master Blaster Greg and The Original Slick Rick were rappers from The Bronx who came along in the early ’80’s battling other rap groups like The Fantastic Four and The Cold Crush Brothers. Rockmaster Scott became their DJ when they took him from a group they battled and beat in a rhyme contest. After this addition they officially became Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three. “It’s Life (You Gotta Think Twice)” was their first song and they initially sold it from the trunk of their car. “Request Line” followed and it blatantly courted listeners to call the radio station and demand their music. “The Roof Is On Fire” was on the other side of “Request Line” and it became their biggest song because of the way it never stops permeating pop culture in film, television, samples, commercials and parties everywhere. Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three had a short run as recording artists but their contribution manages to appear in every era in hip-hop if only for the famous “Roof On Fire” chant.
