Father MC’s “Treat Them Like They Want To Be Treated” was an important moment in the movement from New Jack Swing to Hip-Hop soul. The song featured an unknown Jodeci on background vocals and Sean Combs was one of the dancers in the video. Father MC’s Father’s Day debut album was not only the first recording vehicle for Jodeci but introduced Mary J.Blige to the public singing backup on “I’ll Do 4 U.” His sophomore album, Close To You followed two years later and yielded “One Nite Stand” and “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.” Father MC has recorded 7 studio albums with 2007’s Fam Body project being the most recent. The popularity he had with his first two albums could never be duplicated but he did experience a surge of attention when he became the second and last rapper after Big Daddy Kane to pose nude for Playgirl magazine after he appeared in a ’96 photo shoot.
