Detroit, MI– Producers of the new musical, IT’S A MAN’S WORLD: THE JAMES BROWN STORY, have announced open auditions for the upcoming national tour and are seeking actors/actresses for the following roles:

James Brown –African-American male, 25-35 energetic singer/dancer/actor.
Bobby Byrd – Life–long friend, mentor, and member of the James Brown band. African-American male 25-35 energetic singer/dancer/actor.
Joe Brown – James Brown’s father. African-American male 30+, energetic actor.
Rev. Al Sharpton – Part time manager and confidant of Mr. Brown. Treated like a son and family member by Mr. Brown. African-American male 25-35, energetic actor.
Martha High – Mr. Brown’s personal hair stylist and back-up singer. African-American female 22-35 singer/actor/move well.
Vickie Anderson – Mr. Brown’s back-up singer, and Bobby Byrd’s wife. African-American female 22-35 singer/actor/move well.
Susie Brown – James Brown’s mother. African-American female 22-35, singer/actor.
Syd Nathan – Strong manager/record producer for Mr. Brown and the Famous Flames. Caucasian 30 +, energetic actor.
Mick Jagger – Caucasian male 25- 35, British accent is a must.
Wives and Back-up Singers for James Brown (5 positions) – African-American Females, 21+, energetic singers/dancers/actors.

IT’S A MAN’S WORLD: THE JAMES BROWN STORY tells the story of the legendary Godfather of Soul, James Brown, told by those who knew him best. Written and Directed by Don P. Roberts (Drumline), IT’S A MAN’S WORLD: THE JAMES BROWN STORY will provide a never-seen- before perspective of the iconic James Brown and features original music, costumes designed by Brown’s private tailor, Curtis Gibson and dynamic, technology-infused storytelling that will enlighten, engage and leave audiences begging for more.

Auditions will take place on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 12 noon-6pm at Detroit’s Music Hall Center Performing Arts located at 350 Madison in Detroit, MI.

– All interested candidates should bring picture and resume stapled together. Singers and/or Dancers must prepare a 1-2 minute presentation. Rehearsals begin in April. Cast members must be available for 10 weeks.
