Washington, DC – With several races down to the wire in the 2014 Midterm Elections, all eyes are on turnout in the African American community. During the next 48 hours, the
National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s (NCBCP) #Vote4Justice Campaign is stepping up operations on the ground in Georgia, Michigan, Florida, and Ohio. With the NCBCP’s youth initiative, Black Youth Vote!, and their women’s empowerment program,
Black Women’s Roundtable, leading the mobilizing efforts on the ground, over the next 48 hours volunteers will host get-out-the-vote events, perform phone banking, canvass neighborhoods, provide rides to the polls, work as poll monitors and administer an exit poll survey to find out what drove them to vote including issues such as jobs, equal pay, reproductive justice, voting rights.
On Tuesday, the NCBCP, in partnership with the Ron Walters Leadership and Public Policy Center, will host their eighth bi-annual Election Day National Command Center renamed after the late political scientist, Ronald W. Walters. The NCBCP Ronald Walters Election Day Command Center (NCBCP RWCC) will monitor Black voter turnout and conditions at the polls and conduct conference calls with field coordinators from Georgia, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Arkansas at 1:30 PM and 6:30 PM
