52nd Street was one of the lesser known British R&B bands of the ’80’s. They were active at the same time as Five Star, Junior, Loose Ends and Soul II Soul. “Can’t Afford” and “Cool As Ice” were minor successes for the group until they worked with Philadelphia producer Nick Martinelli on their first album, Children Of The Night. Martinelli, who also produced Loose Ends, Five Star and a host of American R&B stars was behind the sound of “Tell Me (How It Feels).” “You’re My Last Chance” and “I Can’t Let You Go” were from Children Of The Night and exclusively charted in their native UK. Something’s Going On was their second and last album.
