“Dear Dilla” is Phife Dawg’s tribute to J.Dilla. In the video Phife shares the images of Dilla that he saw in his dream as well as shots of Detroit and Dilla’s friends and family. The most powerful image in the video is the shadow of Dilla in his hospital bed making music as his body withered away. As most fans know his Donuts album was made this way and it shows the level of passion he had for music and his commitment to live his last days to the fullest. Phife Dawg also shares his own medical challenges with diabetes and the strength to turn down pastry at Dilla’s Donuts.
